ScrollToll - Digital Wellness & Exercise App

Last Updated: April 24, 2026

Welcome to ScrollToll. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. ScrollToll is a digital wellness app designed to help you manage screen time by requiring physical exercise to unlock access to selected applications on your device.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes our practices regarding data collection and usage, and we encourage you to read it carefully.

1. Information We Collect

ScrollToll collects information necessary for the app to function properly. Most data is stored locally on your device. Some anonymised analytics data is sent to our third-party analytics provider (PostHog) to help us improve the app. Users of the free tier with ads also share limited data with our advertising partners to display relevant ads (see Section 1.4 below).

1.1 Device Permissions

Our app requires the following permissions to operate:

PermissionPurpose
Camera AccessRequired for AI-powered pose detection to count your exercise repetitions. Camera feed is processed locally in real-time and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Accessibility ServiceRequired to detect when you attempt to open blocked applications and enforce your exercise goals.
Usage StatisticsAllows the app to display your daily screen time statistics and track how much time you spend on different applications. This data is used locally.
Notification AccessRequired to detect when media applications are playing content in the background, ensuring accurate time tracking.

1.2 Data Stored Locally

The following types of information are processed and stored locally on your device:

  • App Usage Data: Statistics about which applications you use and for how long.
  • Installed Applications List: Used to let you select which apps to block.
  • Exercise Data: Records of completed exercises and earned screen time.
  • User Preferences: Your settings including blocked apps, time limits, and exercise configurations.
  • Camera Images: Processed in real-time for pose detection only. Never stored, recorded, or transmitted.

1.3 Analytics Data (Sent to PostHog)

To help us understand how the app is used, we use PostHog, a third-party analytics service. The following data is collected:

  • App Interactions: Anonymous data about screens viewed, features used, and button taps.
  • Device Identifiers: A randomly generated anonymous identifier, not linked to your personal identity.
  • App Performance Data: Crash logs, diagnostics, and performance metrics.
  • User-Generated Content Metadata: Anonymous metadata about exercises completed and usage patterns.

All analytics data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. This data is used solely for analytics purposes and is not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling.

1.4 Advertising Data (Free Tier Users Only)

ScrollToll offers two usage tiers: a paid Pro tier with no ads, and a free tier supported by advertising. The advertising data described in this section only applies to users on the free tier who have chosen to continue using ScrollToll with ads. Pro users, trial users, and users who have not activated the free tier are never shown ads, and none of the data described here is collected or shared.

When an eligible free tier user sees an ad, the following data may be shared with our advertising partners (listed in Section 4.2) for the purposes of selecting and measuring ads:

  • Advertising Identifier: Your device's advertising ID (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS). You can reset or limit this at any time through your device settings.
  • IP Address and Coarse Location: Derived from your IP address to determine your general country or region. We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, language, timezone, screen size, and connection type.
  • App Interaction Signals: Limited anonymous signals about which placements displayed an ad and whether the ad was viewed, clicked, or completed (for rewarded ads).
  • App Identifier: The ScrollToll package name or bundle ID, so advertising partners can identify which app served the ad.

Personalised advertising requires your consent. On iOS, this is handled via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. In the European Union and United Kingdom, this is handled via a GDPR consent dialog the first time you activate the free tier. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings or by upgrading to Pro, which removes all ads.

1.5 Custom Ads and Affiliate Recommendations

In addition to third-party advertising networks, ScrollToll may display its own curated product recommendations to free tier users. These custom ads showcase fitness and wellness products that we believe are relevant to our users, such as exercise equipment and health accessories.

Some of these recommendations contain affiliate links through the Amazon Associates programme. When you tap a product link, you are directed to Amazon's website where the URL includes an affiliate tracking tag. This tag allows Amazon to attribute any resulting purchase to ScrollToll. We earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

Custom ads are served entirely from our own servers and do not involve any third-party ad SDK or data sharing beyond the affiliate link click. Specifically:

  • No personal data is shared with Amazon until you voluntarily tap a product link and visit Amazon's website.
  • Custom ad content (images and videos) is loaded from our secure servers over HTTPS.
  • We track anonymous interaction metrics (whether a product link was tapped or an ad was dismissed) via PostHog for the purpose of improving the relevance of our recommendations. These metrics contain no personally identifiable information.
  • Amazon's own privacy policy governs any data collected once you visit their website.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information collected is used for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core app functionality of blocking selected applications
  • To detect and count exercise repetitions using AI pose detection
  • To display your daily screen time statistics and usage patterns
  • To calculate and track earned app usage time based on completed exercises
  • To save your preferences and settings for a personalized experience
  • To analyse app usage trends and improve app performance (via PostHog)
  • To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and performance issues (via PostHog)
  • To display relevant ads and curated product recommendations to free tier users, and to measure ad performance and prevent ad fraud (via our advertising partners, free tier users only)

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

The majority of data is stored locally on your device, including exercise records, app usage statistics, preferences, and settings. This data remains on your device and under your control at all times.

3.2 Analytics Data (PostHog)

Anonymous analytics data is sent to PostHog's servers. You can learn more about PostHog's privacy practices at posthog.com/privacy.

3.3 No Cloud Synchronization of Personal Data

ScrollToll does not sync your exercise records, camera data, or app usage statistics to any cloud services. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, all locally stored information will be permanently deleted. Account-level data related to subscriptions (handled via RevenueCat) and advertising interactions (for free tier users only, handled by our advertising partners) are the exceptions.

3.4 Camera Data

The camera feed used for exercise detection is processed in real-time using on-device AI technology. No camera images or video are recorded, stored, or transmitted. The camera is only active during exercise sessions.

3.5 Advertising Data (Free Tier Users Only)

Advertising data described in Section 1.4 is transmitted to our advertising partners over secure HTTPS connections at the moment an ad is requested. ScrollToll itself does not store a copy of this data on our servers. Each advertising partner processes and retains the data according to their own privacy policies, which are linked in Section 4.2. You can request deletion of advertising data directly from each partner via their respective privacy portals, or indirectly by upgrading to Pro (which stops all future data sharing) or uninstalling the app.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

4.1 PostHog (Analytics)

We share anonymous analytics data with PostHog for the sole purpose of understanding app usage and improving the app. PostHog does not receive any personally identifiable information and does not use the data for advertising or profiling.

4.2 Advertising Partners (Free Tier Users Only)

For users on the free tier with ads, ScrollToll uses a combination of third-party ad networks and its own curated product recommendations. Google AdMob serves as the primary ad network and mediation platform, orchestrating auctions among additional networks. We also display our own affiliate product recommendations through the Amazon Associates programme. The partners we work with are listed below:

Each partner acts as an independent data controller for the advertising data they receive. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to understand how they handle your data. Pro and trial users are never connected to any of these advertising partners.

4.3 RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. When you start a trial or subscribe to Pro, RevenueCat receives your subscription identifier, purchase receipt, and anonymised usage signals to verify your subscription status across devices. You can review RevenueCat's privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

4.4 What We Do Not Do

We do not:

  • Sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any party
  • Share your exercise records, camera data, or locally stored app usage statistics with any advertiser or third party
  • Use your personal data for advertising outside the limited advertising data described in Section 1.4
  • Show ads to users on the Pro tier, trial users, or users who have not activated the free tier with ads
  • Show ads directly on the native block screen on iOS (where it is technically prohibited) or at any point during an active exercise session
  • Serve ads rated Teen or Mature (we apply a content filter to restrict ads to age-appropriate content)
  • Share any personal data with Amazon or other affiliate partners unless you voluntarily tap a product link and visit their website

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your data:

  • Access: View all your locally stored data directly within the app.
  • Modification: Change your blocked apps, settings, and preferences at any time.
  • Deletion: Clear all locally stored app data through your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
  • Permissions: Revoke any granted permissions through your device's settings at any time.
  • Analytics Data Deletion: Contact us at the email below to request deletion of your analytics data.
  • Upgrade to Pro: Subscribing to Pro immediately removes all ads and stops all data sharing with advertising partners.

5.1 Opting Out of Personalised Advertising

Free tier users can opt out of personalised advertising at any time without affecting app functionality. Opting out means you will still see ads, but they will not be targeted based on your advertising identifier.

  • Android: Open device Settings → Google → Ads → enable Opt out of Ads Personalization (or Delete advertising ID on Android 12+).
  • iOS: Open device Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable Allow Apps to Request to Track, or revoke the ATT permission previously granted to ScrollToll.
  • European Union / United Kingdom: Re-open the in-app consent dialog via Settings → Privacy → Ad consent to withdraw or adjust your consent at any time.
  • Upgrade to Pro: Removes all ads entirely and stops all advertising-related data sharing.

6. Permission Revocation

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's settings. Please note that revoking certain permissions may limit app functionality:

  • Without Camera access, exercise detection will not function
  • Without Accessibility Service, app blocking will not work
  • Without Usage Statistics, screen time tracking will be unavailable
  • Without Notification Access, background media detection will not function

7. Children's Privacy

ScrollToll is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our target audience is teens and adults who want to build healthier digital habits.

The app is configured to disable child-directed treatment in all advertising SDKs, meaning we never request or serve ads classified as child-directed. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will promptly delete the information.

Parents and guardians should supervise their children's use of connected devices and review this Privacy Policy together before allowing younger users to install ScrollToll.

8. European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, European Economic Area, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR give you additional rights over your personal data. ScrollToll respects these rights and complies with applicable regulations.

8.1 Legal Basis for Processing

  • Performance of a contract: Processing necessary to provide core app functionality (app blocking, exercise tracking, subscription management).
  • Legitimate interest: Anonymous analytics via PostHog to improve the app and fix bugs.
  • Consent: All advertising-related data processing for free tier users. Consent is obtained via an in-app dialog using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) and can be withdrawn at any time.

8.2 Your GDPR Rights

  • Right of access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification: Request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
  • Right of erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
  • Right to restrict processing: Limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for advertising-related processing at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: File a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

8.3 International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (including Google AdMob, PostHog, and RevenueCat) are located outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions. Each provider publishes its own transfer mechanisms in their privacy policies.

9. California Users (CCPA)

If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Specifically, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

ScrollToll does not sell personal information in the traditional sense, but advertising data shared with our ad network partners for personalised ads may be considered “sharing” under the CCPA. California residents can opt out of this by following the instructions in Section 5.1 or by upgrading to the Pro tier.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top and, where required by law, notify you through the app. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

You consent to the collection and use of information as described herein, including the sharing of anonymous analytics data with PostHog. If you choose to use the free tier with ads, you additionally consent to the display of advertisements and curated product recommendations (including affiliate links), and to the sharing of limited advertising data with the advertising and affiliate partners listed in Section 4.2, subject to the consent mechanisms described in Sections 1.4, 1.5, and 8.1.
